With Mass Effect: New Earth opening last month, and the announcement of the Taste of Orleans Festival in July, I decided to get my theme park fix at California’s Great America. Over the 1 and 1/2 days I was at the park this week, I was easily able to ride every thrill ride at least once.
With that said, let’s start this park update.
New since the last Park Update is the addition of self serve machines in the food court. You do not need a credit card to use these machines, as you order here, and then have the option of paying at the machine or with cash at the register. One cool feature of the machines is the ability to pay somewhere else than from where you ordered from. For example, I ordered Curly Fries from the Corn Dog place and paid at Taps, the craft beer stand, and picked up my order from the Corn Dog place.
Gold Striker was running on skates this past week, with an immense amount of airtime. The grouper at the station also let me sit in the back if nobody was waiting for it on some occasions, which is fantastic, as it is definitely a back seat ride.
Demon was actually not as rough as usual when I rode it, but it was still pretty terrible. The maintenance staff did a great job with Demon over the offseason, as it is not nearly as terrible as it was last year.
That is all for the roller coasters, but let’s get to some flat ride updates. Firefall was running both days, which is unusual for this ride because of it’s reputation.
Delirium, however, was down one day and running the next. I was able to take use of the lone single rider line in all of Northern California for once, as my group was fine with being split up with the long line.
To end this Park Update, here is a POV of Star Tower, with last year’s spiel still not taken out.
Thank you so much for checking out our latest park update!
